TreatmentCosts is an independent price-transparency platform for private healthcare in the UK. We bring fragmented, hard-to-find treatment prices together in one place so patients can see what a procedure typically costs near them — before they pick up the phone.
We are not a clinic and we do not provide treatment. We are a neutral comparison service: we don’t rank clinics by who pays us, and viewing prices is always free.
How we collect & check prices
We collect treatment prices from clinics’ publicly available price lists, fee guides and websites, then normalise them into comparable treatments. A sample of prices is checked by hand, and every price records its source and the date it was seen. Pages are updated as new data arrives.
How a price gets onto this site
- We find the published fee
Every price starts life as a fee a clinic itself advertises - a published fee list or price page. We never estimate, extrapolate or average a price into existence.
- We record it with its receipts
Each price is stored with the source it came from, the exact text it appeared in and the date we saw it - so any figure on this site can be traced back to where and when it was found.
- Every price passes sanity checks
New prices are checked against per-treatment plausibility floors (a £50 dental implant is a mistake, not a bargain), and an automated daily scan compares every live price against its national peers and flags outliers to a human.
- History is kept, never overwritten
When a price changes, the old one is not deleted - it is archived and superseded. Every page shows when its prices were last updated.
Who keeps prices up to date
Our team collects and refreshes prices continuously. On top of that, clinics can claim their own listing: once a claim is verified and approved by us, the clinic manages its own prices, opening hours and details from its dashboard - the people who set the fees keep them current.
Clinic-managed prices get no special treatment: every price on the site, however it arrived, faces the same plausibility floors and the same daily anomaly scan.
What we never do
- No estimates - if we don’t hold a real advertised price, we show nothing.
- No pay-to-rank - clinic lists are ordered by price and data, and paid features never change a price or a ranking.
- No silent edits - price history is append-only, so a figure can’t be quietly rewritten.
Our sources
Sources include clinic websites and published fee guides, supplemented by manual verification and direct submissions from clinics.
