These guidelines keep reviews on Treatmentcosts.co.uk helpful, fair and trustworthy – both for patients choosing care and for the clinics and specialists being reviewed. By submitting a review you agree to them.
Who can leave a review
Reviews should only be left by someone with genuine, first-hand experience of the clinic or specialist – for example, you’ve had a consultation or treatment with them. Please don’t review somewhere you haven’t actually been, and don’t review your own clinic or a competitor.
Verified reviews
When you leave a review using a personal link sent to you by a clinic or specialist, it’s marked "Verified patient". All other reviews are checked by our team before they go live, and we may contact you to confirm your experience.
What makes a good review
- Be honest, and base it on your own experience.
- Be specific and helpful – the treatment you had, the care and communication, the value and the outcome.
- Be fair and respectful, even when your experience was disappointing.
- Keep it relevant to the clinic or specialist and the care they provided.
What’s not allowed
We won’t publish, and may remove, reviews that:
- Are fake, paid for, incentivised, or written by the provider, a competitor or anyone connected to them.
- Aren’t based on a genuine personal experience.
- Contain false or misleading claims, or allegations we can’t reasonably verify.
- Are defamatory, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, obscene or harassing.
- Reveal private or confidential details about staff or other patients, including sensitive medical information about another person.
- Present specific clinical or medical claims as fact, or offer medical advice.
- Contain spam, advertising, links or contact details.
- Infringe someone’s privacy or intellectual property, or otherwise break the law.
Your privacy
You can choose to show your review as "Anonymous". We ask for your email only to confirm genuine reviews – it’s never published. Please don’t include your own or anyone else’s private medical details.
Moderation & removal
We moderate reviews and may decline, edit (for example, to remove personal data) or remove any review that breaches these guidelines, at our reasonable discretion. We aim to be fair to both reviewers and providers. Treatmentcosts.co.uk is a platform for genuine opinions and isn’t responsible for the views expressed in individual reviews.
For clinics & specialists
Providers can reply publicly to reviews about them from their dashboard. If you believe a review is fake or breaks these guidelines, please report it or contact us and we’ll look into it promptly. Please don’t pressure patients to remove honest negative reviews, or offer anything in exchange for a review.
Reporting a review
If you spot a review that breaks these guidelines, use the report option on the review, or contact us. We’ll review it as quickly as we can.
We may update these guidelines from time to time.
